Styrolution's force majeure on acrylonitrile butadiene styrene for delivery to Italy and Switzerland remained in place Wednesday despite supply concerns easing, a source with knowledge of the matter said.

The company was not available for comment.

The force majeure was initially expected to be lifted in early October following the opening of a key railway route connecting northwestern and southern Europe. However, it remained in place Wednesday, with expectations of it being lifted by the end of the week.

Although a force majeure declaration was made, supplies were said to be reaching consumers through other means.

ABS demand was extremely firm in September, with volumes dipping marginally in October. The ABS contract price for September was assessed at Eur1,860/mt ($2,184/mt) FD NWE at the end of September.

The October contract was heard pegged around Eur1,850/mt, declining from September levels in line with falling costs.
